Bombas exists to make and donate essential clothing to those who need it. Our apparel creates a lot of good, but every item made still plays a role in today’s environmental challenges. That’s why we’re committed to producing more intentionally and thoughtfully than ever before.
Socks are the #1 most requested clothing items in homeless shelters. Underwear is #2. T-shirts are #3. That’s because most shelters don’t allow donations of used socks and underwear for hygienic reasons. We make and donate these items to help solve a problem in our community.
While we are committed to our mission of donating essential clothing to those in need, we understand that we need to look out for the environment while we do so. The fashion industry produces between 2% and 8% of global carbon emissions. As an apparel company, we’re committed to being a part of the solution.
To ensure we’re holding ourselves accountable, we have teamed up with experts to evaluate our environmental impact.
In 2017, we received B Corp certification for meeting the heightened standards established by B Lab, including related to verified social and environmental performance, impact on its workers and customers and public transparency. Since then, we have raised our B Impact Score.
In 2021, we engaged South Pole as consultants to assist in the preparation of a comprehensive assessment of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for calendar year 2020.
In 2022, we kicked off an ongoing partnership with the climate experts at Watershed to measure and reduce our emissions in both the short and long term.
We’re paying special attention to how we make our products and are working towards using more responsible materials, making products that will stand the test of time, and finding ways to divert products from the waste stream. Here's a look into some of the work we've already started doing.
We design our products with durability in mind. Our hope is to provide consumers with products that will last longer leading to less waste and environment impact.
